The play has been written specifically for the second edition of Melodrama (an annual international drama festival). Melodrama – European Drama School Festival has been widening the idea of European integration for the last couple of years and has become an event of international character and increasing importance.
Requiescat means basically “May it rest in peace”. It shows three major events of the previous century: the Titanic as a symbol of technical development, Hiroshima – embodiment of self-destruction and Vietnam – first media war. Setting them together gives image of a crisis understandable only after becoming history. Performance full of visual effects related to the desire of rebuilding our world, often at the cost of irreversible consequences, which after some time become symbols of utopia. It does not require any translation and remains perfectly understandable for the recipient. Visual techniques, video projections and a mix of singing and wonderful acting makes an impression which moves the audience’s emotions and does not allow to be easily forgotten.
“Requiescat” has already been presented in March of this year at Arka Theatre, Wrocław and in Nysa during an event named “Nysa’s Theatralia”.
Present tournee will also include Livorno in Italy. Actors represent many nations – Hungary, Italy, Poland and Spain.
For performances in Oleśnica, Wołów, Milicz and Brzeg Dolny are free of charge.
