Power lines in infrastructure corridors are rather common sight by the motorways in Western Europe. In Poland they would be a pilot experiment, though. This state is mainly caused by the fact that long and continuous motorway stretches have been existing in Poland for no longer than about ten years. Such localization of the line makes it easier to avoid numerous difficulties. The most significant ones are landowners’ protests which lead to expensive and time consuming trials.

New 400 kilovolt line is going to be put in 55-kilometer stretch connecting Magnuszowice, Niemodlin commune (in between Opole and Brzeg) and Suchy Dwór, Żórawina commune, neighboring Bielany Wrocławskie.

Construction of new line is going to be the part of energy ring surrounding the capital of Lower Silesia. A4 power line leads to the most significant element of the ring - new energy station in Southern Wrocław. The station shall be put in conjunction with its counterpart in Pasikurowice, thus creating electric bypass of the city. All of this is bound to supply the city with power in case of outage, similar to one that happened to Szczecin in April.

What’s more, Wrocław will be able to take power from Trębaczew (Łódź voivodeship) – Ostrów Wielkopolski – Poznań high voltage line which is currently under construction. Due to this, the city will be provided with energy from three power stations, as present energy deliveries from Turów and Opole stations will be joined by those from Bełchatów station.
